Installation Instructions & Hints

TOOLS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION:

A pair of scissors to trim Velcro for Volume Control.
Popsicle stick or the like to press wires behind liner and/or rubber trim on your helmet.

INSTALL SPEAKERS:

Put your helmet on & note where the center of your ears sit in the helmet.
This is where you want to install your speakers.
(This spot is usually at, or slightly behind, the Mounting Rivet for the helmet strap.)

Remove your helmet & test fit your speakers, see how well they fit.
You may have to curve the speaker covers a bit to fit the shape of your helmet.
Also note, where the wires should come out of your speakers.
You want the wires to be protected behind your helmet liner.
Find the best direction that will allow you to easily run the wires behind the liner.
When ready, Install one speaker by peeling the Velcro backing away from the adhesive on the back and pressing into place.
Repeat with other speaker.

ADJUSTING SPEAKERS FOR BEST PERFORMANCE:
Once you have the speakers installed, put your helmet on, have music playing & listen closely,
as you move the helmet up/down, and front to rear.
You will notice an area they work best in.  (The "sweet spot")
Gently peel the Velcro apart & move the speakers to the Sweet Spot.
Keep testing & fine tuning until you are happy with the results.

The speakers will fit most any helmet.
They are very Thin & Light, however they do require SOME room.
Most helmets have a small pocket by the ears that the speakers fit nicely into.
Not all do however.
For the ones that don't have enough room, most guys usually peel back the liner a bit,
trim/shave just a bit of the foam behind the liner, to make room for the speakers, re-install the liner, & then install the speakers.
(You want little to nothing between the speakers & your ears.)

CASE INSTALLATION:

Test fit case and Visor WYE cable with Visor prior to finalizing Case installation location.
The Left side of your helmet is highly recommended for area of installation.
Clean area of install with rubbing alcohol, allow to fully dry.
Peel backing from mounting Velcro & stick to helmet.
Rub well into place with your fingers to insure a good bond.
Attach TRAIL JAMZ case to helmet by pressing into place.
Can always peel apart Velcro & re-adjust case placement as required.
You want the zipper handle to be towards rear of helmet when zipper is closed.

VOLUME CONTROL INSTALLATION:

You want the Volume control mounted so you can easily operate it with your Left Hand.
The Left side of your Helmet mounted low, usually mounted on the bottom edge works best.
Using Scissors, cut the soft side(loops) of Velcro to fit the side of your Volume Control.
Clean area of install with rubbing alcohol, allow to fully dry.
Peel & stick on side furthest away from the volume control wheel.
(Volume Control Case usually has 2 screws on this side. This makes it easier to use control.)

Clean area to mount Hook Half of Velcro for Volume Control with rubbing alcohol.
Peel backing from Hook half of Velcro, align, and press into place.
Rub into place with fingers to insure a good bond.

WIRES:

Neatly tuck any excess wire behind your helmet liner.
You can also tuck them under/behind the rubber edging on your helmet.
The rubber edging is especially useful near the Volume control.

MP3 PLAYER:

Adjust the EQ as noted below.
Adjust the Volume to max or with-in a few presses of max.
(You use the player volume to adjust the absolute maximum volume level you want as your ride.)
You will use the external helmet mounted volume control to adjust volume as you ride.

Plug MP3 into the Mini B USB charging cable from your power supply.
Use the connection coming out of the same end as the Blue Power in RCA Cable.
The other USB charging connection is for the optional Amplifier.

Plug 1/8" stereo plug from speakers into MP3 Player.
Make sure plug is FULLY seated into player.

General use is to set the Player as follows:
(Most of the settings are Under SETTINGS then MUSIC SETTINGS)

Set to REPEAT ALL.
Set to PLAY ALL.     (You will not set to Play All if you use Playlists, you will select Playlists to play then.)
Set EQ as noted below.

ENJOY YOUR TUNES !   : )

HINTS:

Mounting surfaces for Velcro adhesive MUST be clean (use Rubbing Alcohol) prior to attachment to helmet.

Mount the Unit/Case on the Left Side of your helmet, that way the Zipper opening is to the rear & is protected from the weather.

Mount the Volume control on the left side on the lower edge of your helmet, control facing outward.
You will find that the location makes it very easy to use the volume control.

To re-adjust/move the mounting Velcro on your helmet, you can heat up with a hair dryer & gently peel off of helmet.
Done carefully, you can re-apply to your helmet & re-use.

No need to shut your unit off at stops, simply turn the volume down all the way.
Your Player screen will shut itself off in a few seconds, after the last button press,  to help extend your battery life.
(You set the display time in SETTINGS)

When the volume is down all the way, you use very little power.
Only turn my player off at night, during my riding day, I simply turn it down.

Adjust the Custom EQ settings up to get great volume and sound out of your player.

You need to adjust your Graphic Equalizer up.
In the Main Menu, go to SETTINGS
Select SETTINGS by pressing the right arrow
Select MUSIC OPTIONS, then press right button.
Scroll down to EQ (Equalizer)
Scroll down to CUSTOM, then select by pressing the right arrow
Adjust all the settings to (or near) maximum(up) except for the left two.
(Left & right will take you from frequency band to frequency band, up and down will adjust volume levels.)
Adjust the left two settings to 1 button press down from max.
SAVE YOUR EQ SETTINGS by pressing the CENTER button.
Then press the HOME button. (The one with a house on it.)

Many people have poked a small hole in the case, in the back, below the velcro.
This allows you to run the wire from the volume control a short distance,
and that way you don't have to run the wire through the zipper opening at the rear.
Any excess wire length is then coiled in the case.

Your TRAIL JAMZ case is incredibly tough & stretchy.
You can poke a very small hole in your case for the wires and then work the connector through the hole.
The Case material will seal tightly on the wire.
